INTERMEDIATE CAMP
*MINIMUM EXPERIENCE LEVEL: "WALK, TROT, CANTER"
JUNE 8-12, 9AM - 2PM
5 - Day Camp Session $750
Our camps are designed especially for first-time and beginner riders, with a gentle pace, engaging activities, and a strong focus on safety.
Why Parents Love Our Camps:
Daily Riding = Big Progress
Kids learn faster when they ride every day. Our campers build confidence quickly — often going from total beginners to posting the trot by the end of camp.
The Safest, Most Experienced Program in the Area
With more than two decades of teaching riders in the Boerne/San Antonio area, we are known for our professional instruction and exceptional safety standards.
Meet The Team:
Jill Ammann, Camp Director
Jill is the owner of In The Irons Equestrian Center and has been teaching riders since 2002. A professional dressage trainer and lifelong horsewoman, Jill has dedicated more than two decades to helping riders of all ages develop confidence, horsemanship skills, and a lifelong love of horses. She has taught hundreds of students throughout the Boerne and San Antonio area and has built one of the region's most respected beginner and intermediate riding programs.
Jill believes that horses teach far more than riding. Through her camps and lesson programs, she strives to help children develop confidence, responsibility, empathy, sportsmanship, and a genuine connection with animals. Her camps are known for being fun, hands-on, and horse-centered, combining daily riding with horsemanship, games, activities, and memorable experiences that keep campers coming back year after year.
Cassie Dougherty, Horsemanship Lead
Cassie brings more than 25 years of equestrian experience in riding, training, and barn management. She competed statewide and nationally through Pony Club, earning her C-3 rating in disciplines including 3-day eventing, show jumping, and hunter/jumper, and also earned her German Riding Badge #9 while living abroad.
She has worked as a trainer and barn manager, overseeing 20+ horses, starting young horses, and creating lesson programs for riders of all levels. Cassie is NARHA/PATH certified and has experience teaching children and individuals with disabilities. She is known for her emphasis on safety, horsemanship, and individualized instruction, and she brings that same thoughtful approach to camp.
And our horses?
They are some of the most reliable, well-trained lesson horses you’ll find anywhere. We hand-select each one for gentle temperament, patience, and reliability with children.
Weather-Proof at the San Antonio Rose Palace
Riding at Camp takes place inside the massive covered arenas at the San Antonio Rose Palace, right next door — so riding continues rain or shine.
